1,lb(500g)half thick slices of beef loin 3 onions 2 tblspoon butter,margarine or oil 3/4 cup(200ml)water 12 potatoes 2 teaspoon salt 1/4 teaspoon pepper 8 oz,(33cl)beer or boullion,parsley

Instructions: Slice the meat into smaller pieces,if necessary.Peel and slice the onion.Saute in one-third of the butter over medium heat in a frying pan until it has a good color.Removed and set aside.Brown meat in rest of the butter.Remove from the pan.Pour of the fat and stir a little hot water into the frying pan to loosen the juice froom the meat in the pan.Save.Peel and slice potatoes.Place potatoes,onions,and meat in a baking dish or casserole in alternating layers.See that both the bottom and top layers are potatoes.Season each layer with salt and pepper.Pour juice from the meat as well as the beer or bouillon over the layer.Cover and let simmer over low heat for 45 minutes or in 375*F(200*C)oven. |
